Where is Uncle Ming’s?
We’re hidden downstairs in the CBD —find us downstairs at basement level of Ferrier Hare House at 55 York St, keep an eye out for Roman Daniels suit club and head downstairs. If you think you’re lost, you’re probably close.

Do I need a booking?
Walk-ins are always welcome, but bookings are highly recommended — especially on weekends and for groups.

What’s the vibe?
Think underground speakeasy energy, low lighting, loud laughs, good tunes, and late nights. It’s casual, a little cheeky, and built for staying longer than planned.

Is Uncle Ming’s over 18s?
Yes — this is a licensed venue and strictly 18+.

What time do you close?
We go late. Closing times vary by night, so check Google or our socials for the most up-to-date info.

What’s your phone number?

Uncle is old school; we don’t have a phone. Updates to reservations can be made via your booking confirmation. For anything else, drop us a line at info@unclemings.com.au‍ ‍and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Do you sell gift cards?
Yes — because dumplings and cocktails beat socks every time.

Can gift cards be used on food and drinks?
Yep — gift cards can be used across the bar for food and beverages.

Is Uncle Ming’s wheelchair accessible?
As we’re located downstairs, access is limited. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help.

What kind of food do you serve?
Dumplings, buns, snacks and pan-asian share plates designed for grazing while you drink. It’s bar food with big flavour.

Are you a restaurant or a bar?
Both. We’re a bar first, but our dumplings and snacks are a serious part of the experience.

Do you cater for vegetarians and gluten-free?
Yes — we’ve got vegetarian options and some gluten-free items. Let our team know and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Can I just come for drinks?
Absolutely. Drinks-only is totally fine.

What’s on the drinks list?
A big selection of Japanese whisky, sake, umeshu, creative cocktails, and Uncle Ming’s famous teapot cocktails made to share.

What are the must-try cocktails?
The Shanghai Roller (served on fire), Boshi Boshi, and our crowd favourites — Uncle’s Favourite and Auntie’s Favourite.

Do you do mocktails?
Yep — we’ve got non-alcoholic options that still bring the flavour.

Do you offer happy hour?
Yes — check our what’s on page or socials for current happy hour times and specials.

How do I make a booking?
Book online through our website — quick, easy, done.

Can I walk in without a booking?
Yes, but availability can be limited during peak times.

What if there are no tables showing as available online?
If you can’t see any tables to book, it means all bookable tables are taken — but you’re still welcome to pop in. We reserve a few tables for walk-ins, subject to space.

What happens if I don’t show up or cancel late?
No-shows and cancellations within 24 hours of your booking may incur a $10 per person fee.

How long is my booking for?
All bookings are for 2 hours.

How long will you hold my table?
We’ll hold your table for 15 minutes past your booking time. After that, we may need to release it to walk-ins.

Are large groups allowed on weekends?
On Friday and Saturday nights, groups of 8 or more are strictly bookings only.

Is there a minimum spend for groups?
Yes — groups of 8 or more have a minimum spend of $50 per person, plus a mandatory 10% gratuity on the total bill.

Is there a service charge?
Yes — a discretionary 5% service charge applies to all tables after 9pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Do you cater for group bookings?
Yes — Uncle Ming’s is great for group celebrations, catch-ups and slightly unhinged birthday nights.

How many people can I book for?

Groups of up to 8 can be booked via our online booking platform, for larger groups please make an enquiry via our online group enquiry form and we’ll help you lock in the details.

Do you have a private room?
Yes — we have a private lair perfect for smaller private events and group celebrations. Find the details and make an enquiry here.

Can I book the venue exclusively?
Yes — full and partial venue buyouts are available depending on the time and day. Get in touch for availablity and minimum spends.

Do you offer group menus and drinks packages?
Yes — we have share-style food menus and drinks packages, or you can run a tab on consumption.

Is there a minimum spend for groups?
Group and private bookings may have minimum spends depending on size, time and space booked. Our team will confirm all details with you.
